Man Utd fans all saying the same thing about Cristiano Ronaldo after Anthony Martial scores third goal in three games | The Sun

ANTHONY MARTIAL'S stunning form in pre-season has got all Manchester United fans saying the same thing.

The Frenchman bagged his third goal in three games with an ice-cool finish in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Martial, 26, expertly took down a cross from Diogo Dalot on his chest before despatching the ball past Palace keeper Remi Matthews.

It added to the neat finishes in the wins against Liverpool and Melbourne Victory and maintained his record in scoring all three of United's pre-season games so far.

And Manchester United fans reckon Martial's sublime form could spell trouble for wantaway striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old is not on the tour after asking to leave the club.

Meanwhile Martial is staking his claim for a starting spot by continuing to bang in the goals, and looking very sharp in his all-round game.

The forward has looked resurgent after his return from a disappointing loan spell with Sevilla.

Martial has been deployed as the sole striker by Erik Ten Hag, which could leave Ronaldo warming the bench when United kick off the campaign.

Fans though are all for it, with one writing on social media: "Martial is on fire. Who needs Ronaldo?"

Another joked: "Cristiano Ronaldo can leave now….Martial is back."

And a third said: "Never thought I would say this but id much rather start the season with Martial than Ronaldo."

Meanwhile one fan reckoned Martial should start most matches, with Ronaldo relegated to League Cup and FA Cup duty.

They wrote: "Antony Martial is back!!!! Trusting him over Ronaldo will help Manchester United a lot this season, for the disrespect he’s shown this great club.

"Make him EFL and FA cup starter and make Martial EPL and UCL starter."

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho also continued their impressive pre-seasons by grabbing a goal apiece after the break.

Joel Ward pulled one back for Crystal Palace, before United were reduced to 10 men after Will Fish was given his marching orders.

But the gloss was taken off the result even more with Harry Maguire the target of repeated boos from the Melbourne crowd.
