WOUT WEGHORST has sparked fury amongst Manchester United fans after touching the Liverpool badge ahead of kick-off.
It is tradition for Liverpool players to touch the 'This is Anfield' sign above the tunnel exit ahead of kick-off.
Most Liverpool players perform the ritual before every game but it is unusual for away players to do the same.
It is particularly strange for a player from a rival club to pay tribute in such a manner, which is why United fans are raging with Weghorst.
One supporter claimed the striker's attitude meant United had "lost the game before it even started".
Another fan fumed: "Sack him – NOW!!"

And another commented: "United should sack him for this disgrace. Bad Weghorst. Bad!"
Some fans also pointed out the fact Weghorst was a boyhood Liverpool fan, in 2018 the Dutchman revealed he has dreamed of playing for the Reds since he was a child.
And he shared his admiration for the club in an interview with DAZN in 2020, saying: “I always found Liverpool very special. I still get goosebumps from ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone'."
