Morning, United fans
United are tipped to renew their hunt for Adrien Rabiot – but face disappointment over Antoine Griezmann.
Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag reportedly wanted Juventus star Rabiot AND Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong for his midfield in the last transfer window.
But neither deal was pushed through before the September 1 deadline.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are hoping to rush through France striker Antoine Griezmann’s cut-price £22million move from Barcelona.
It's thought Griezmann is frustrated at being limited to a sub role at Atletico due to the terms of his loan deal.
Diogo Dalot could land a contract extension beyond next summer despite United’s reported interest in a new right-back.
Ten Hag is said to have been impressed by the Portugal star, who has replaced Aaron Wan-Bissaka this season as the firm first-choice.
Napoli have been urged to consider selling Kim Min-Jae if the Red Devils match the South Korea centre-back’s £40million release clause.
Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton were all thought to have monitored the 25-year-old before he moved to Italy from Fenerbahce in the summer as Kalidou Koulibaly’s replacement.
Lastly, Harry Maguire did his chances of keeping his England spot for the World Cup little good with his display in last night's 1-0 loss in Italy.
And left-back Luke Shaw came on as a late sub.

Large majority of fans want Southgate OUT
An astonishing 83-per-cent of England fans want Gareth Southgate OUT with just one game to go before the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The Three Lions were relegated from their Nations League group following a 1-0 loss to Italy at the San Siro.
Giacomo Raspadori's second half strike was the difference.
To make matters worse, England are without a win in five games and haven't scored a goal in open play in over 450 minutes of football. It's also England's worst run in 22 years.
All of this, of course, is unfolding just months ahead of a World Cup that not long ago England were considered one of the favourites to win.
And England have just one more game to prepare for Qatar, which is against rivals Germany at Wembley on Monday.
But ahead of England's meeting with the Germans, 83-per-cent of Three Lions fans want Southgate GONE, according to a SunSport Twitter poll.
Southgate and Co were booed at the San Siro after the final whistle, but the boss feels the performance was a "step in the right direction".
He said: "I personally felt the performance was a step in the right direction. But I appreciate because of the result that won't be the reaction."

Red Devils tipped to renew Rabiot hunt
Manchester United are tipped to bid again for summer target Adrien Rabiot in January.
New Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag reportedly wanted the Juventus star AND Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong for his midfield in the last transfer window.
But neither deal was pushed through before the September 1 deadline.
Dutchman De Jong has since claimed he was never interested in the move.
And Rabiot is also understood to have had doubts over whether United were the right club for him.
Instead Casemiro came in from Real Madrid following the free transfer arrival of Christian Eriksen.
But reports in Italy suggest the Red Devils are still keen on France playmaker Rabiot.

Barca in Griezmann deal rush
Barcelona are reportedly rushing to finalise Antoine Griezmann’s cut-price £22million move to Atletico Madrid.
That’s amid interest from Manchester United in the French forward.
Mundo Deportivo claims Griezmann is becoming frustrated with his role as a sub, which is due to Atleti not wanting to pay a £35m fee to Barca.
And after initially threatening legal action against Diego Simeone’s side, Barcelona are now prepared to accept a lower price of £22m for the striker.

GOAL! Italy 1 England 0
Giacomo Raspadori's 68th minute opener means the Three Lions will be relegated to the Nations League second tier unless they bag at least an equaliser.

Bellingham 'could have cost £9k'
Liverpool could have signed Jude Bellingham for just £9,000, reports say.
But they will now have to pay £130MILLION to land the England midfielder ahead of Manchester United.
Liverpool are known to be in the market for a new midfielder after being hit by numerous injuries this season.
And Bellingham, 19, is reportedly at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list for next summer.
It’s reckoned the Reds will have to break the bank for his signature though.
That’s because Bellingham’s current club Borussia Dortmund value the ace at a whopping £130m.
But the Athletic claims Liverpool could have landed Bellingham almost a decade ago for a fraction of price.
The teenager was playing at Under-11 level when Liverpool invited him for a two-day trial at Kirkby.
Bellingham blew the coaches and scouts away with his talent.
And an offer quickly came in for the youngster to join Liverpool.

McFred aren't half good enough
Paul Scholes has slated Manchester United's Fred and Scott McTominay and Fred for being unable to take the ball on the half turn – like their new midfield team-mates Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.
Old Trafford legend Scholes believes "clever and intelligent" Eriksen is setting the "perfect example"
But he suggests the main reason McFred could have failed as a partnership is their inability to link quickly and smoothly with defence and attack.
Scholes said: "When they are receiving the ball with their back to goal all the time it is the only way they can go.
"A midfielder should always receive the ball on the half turn so they can still see their defenders and their forward.
‘You saw Casemiro did it two weeks ago and Eriksen does it all the time.
‘Small things like that just annoy me because I think if you are playing at Manchester United you should be capable of doing that. You should expect that."

Maguire in England 'back five'
Harry Maguire starts for England against Italy in Milan – in a back five including wing-backs Bukayo Saka and Reece James.
Maguire, Eric Dier and Kyle Walker are the three central defenders.
Three Lions' boss Gareth Southgate said of Manchester United's Maguire: "You always have to back your judgement and we feel he is an important player.
“If we thought there were experienced players ready to step in and play at a level above him there would be a different consideration and in some positions there would be a different level of competition in that way.
“He is our most dominant aerial centre-back."

Ron's Euro 2024 dream 'no surprise'

Manchester United legend Ronaldo, 37, has previously stated he expect to play on until his 40s.
And ahead of Saturday's clash with the Czech Republic, Wolves midfielder Neves said: “Nobody is surprised. Working with him, we know what he is.
"We didn’t expect him to say it at the moment but somehow we already knew it, for the way he works, for how he is involved.
“He is always extraordinary when he is called up for the national team, he is a professional in all respects and he will be ready.”

Ver-ging on the ridiculous
Paul Scholes has lifted the lid on the occasions he played alongside Juan Sebastian Veron in the Manchester United midfield, labelling it ‘a disaster’.
The Red Devils legend was discussing the stars he played alongside during his long career at Old Trafford with Gary Neville on the latest episode of The Overlap – and which suited his game best.
“It didn’t really matter to me [who I played alongside],” Scholes told his former United and England teammate.
“I played with Nicky [Butt], I played with Roy [Keane], Michael Carrick. I loved playing with all of them. It wasn’t great playing with attacking people. I needed someone who played that [defensive midfield] position really well.”
Neville responded by asking him about Veron, who joined United in 2000 for a whopping £28m.
“Yeah, me and Veron were a disaster. I think me and Anderson did it once too, and just no! It’s not working, is it?” Scholes continued while laughing.
“it was just two lads who don’t care about defending, who don’t know the [defensive midfield] position that well.
“But it worked better with a Michael or a Roy or a Nicky, who were brilliant playing a position that they knew.”

Rashford should be England's third attacker
Marcus Rashford would complete an exhilarating England strikeforce at the World Cup with must-starters Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.
That's the view of former England right-back Glen Johnson as the Three Lions prepare for Nations League clashes with Italy tonight and Germany on Monday.
Rashford has been a major part of Manchestr United's revival this season.
And Johnson told Genting Casino: "Harry Kane obviously has to start. So does Sterling. I’d probably go with Rashford as my third attacker.
I’m a big fan of him and once he fully gets back to his best, he’s unstoppable. Sometimes when his confidence is down, he takes the easy option.
He’s rapid, got a great strike on him, it’ll probably surprise people but I’d go for him.
Rashford, Sterling and Kane would be my starting three at the World Cup, but you have incredible strength in depth.
"Someone else could choose a different front three and it would be hard to have any arguments."

'Haaland can be as good as Messi and Ronaldo'
Erling Haaland can be as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Sven Goran Eriksson.
PSG's Messi and Manchester United legend Ronaldo have dominated the world player of the year awards for 15 years.
But ex-England boss Eriksson told BoyleSports World Cup Betting: "I’ve never seen anyone like Haaland.
"He's very young, still, and if he can go on like this with no injuries, I think that's a big enemy to all footballers, he might be as famous, ranking at least, as Messi, Ronaldo and Maradona.
"Because this guy has everything, and also seems to be mentally very, very strong.
"He takes everything around him with a smile and he looks very positive. As a footballer he has everything, it's like Kane. Big, strong, quick. Haaland is also extremely quick, when he goes, you can't take him.
"I think he can be as good as Messi and Ronaldo. If he avoids injury and if he keeps his head as it is now, he doesn't lose the mind. He has everything. Incredible."
Norway goal machine Haaland cost Manchester City £51million from Borussia Dortmund over the summer.

He could cost around £51million, with Palmeiras thought to be be prepared to cash in at some stage.
Inevitably, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with him.

Chiellini sends support to Maguire
The much-maligned Harry Maguire has received further support this week ahead of England’s trip to Italy – from a most unlikely source.
In an interview with The Times, former Azzurri ace Giorgio Chiellini admitted the criticism of his fellow centre-back had made him sad.
“I am sad for Maguire’s situation because he is a good player,” revealed the Los Angeles defender.
“[Manchester United] require too much of him. Just because they paid £80million for him, he has to be the best in the world every match? It’s not right.
“The value of the market is dependent on many aspects you can’t control. It’s not your fault. Him and [John] Stones are a good duo. Okay, Maguire maybe is not Rio Ferdinand but he’s good enough.
“With this situation it’s not helping [England] to do the best. If you want to win the World Cup, it’s impossible to do it with some problems in the key players, and for sure Maguire is one of the key players in the team.”

'£40m bid should tempt Napoli to sell Kim'
Napoli have been urged to consider selling Kim Min-Jae if Manchester United match the South Korea centre-back's £40million release clause.
Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton were all thought to have monitored the 25-year-old before he moved to Italy from Fenerbahce in the summer as Kalidou Koulibaly's replacement.
And Giuseppe Cannella, who has been sporting director at six Italian clubs, believes Napoli should prepare to make a quick profit on their £16m buy.
Cannela said“Manchester United on Kim? Napoli must think about it immediately.
“If they come for Kim, you have to get another one like him. Because if you make a capital gain of around 30 million (Euros) in 6/7 months…"

As a result, Juventus have drawn up a three-man transfer shortlist of potential targets.
As reported by TuttoSport, one of these targets is Chelsea outcast Pulisic, who was also approached for a loan transfer by Manchester United late in the summer window.
Pulisic has fallen way off his best performances with persistent injury concerns flatlining his progress.
Wolves star Traore is another target on their list.

'Harry is still Utd's best defender'
Gabby Agbonlahor insists Harry Maguire has been made a scapegoat for Manchester United’s misfortunes this past year.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa ace insists the centre-back remains the Red Devils’ star defender, and believes that he is resilient enough to play himself back into form.
“Harry Maguire has been a scapegoat for Manchester United,” Agbonlahor told his broadcasting colleagues.
“Yes, Martinez has done well. Yes, Varane has done well, but – for me – Harry Maguire is Manchester United’s best defender.
“I really hope in these two England games, he goes and proves his critics wrong.
“He must be really mentally strong to get through the criticism he’s been getting. Two top performances in these next two games and everyone will stop talking about him.”
