    Ten Hag on subs

Erik ten Hag has backed his substitutions amid criticism from fans and pundits.

United were in cruise control at 2-0 before seeing their lead evaporate late on.

However, Ten Hag has insisted he had no choice but to make the subs he did.

He said: "I had to make them. There was no other way. Rapha was injured, that was the first I had to make. And then Anthony Martial, first start after a long period, so we had to make him on the 60.

"Then Bruno: I got the warning from the refs, he was short before a second booking and the same for Antony. So I had to make the subs, I had no other choice.

"And then the last ten minute of the game everything was against us. We have to be smarter, we switch off for the first goal, then we get the injury of Licha [Martinez], another bad luck.

"Both goals against, both deflected, what can you do? Sometimes you have bad days and bad luck. Tonight was not our night."

    Scaredy cats

Sevilla boss José Luis Mendilibar has said Man Utd were "scared" after they pulled a goal back.

Erik ten Hag's side were cruising at 2-0 before a deflection gave Sevilla a route back into the game.

With United going down to ten men after Lisandro Martinez went off injured, the Spaniards then forced an equaliser thanks to ANOTHER wicked deflection.

But Mendilibar has insisted the Red Devils were shaken following his side's first goal. He said: "The team [Sevilla] improved with the changes, they have gone down a bit with the 2-1, which they saw as easy.

"With the tie and Lisandro's injury, they were scared and asking for more time.

"In the first few minutes, it seemed like the world was falling apart [for Sevilla]. Football doesn't end with that, it lasts a long time, Sevilla in that competition is always on top.

"When we made it 2-1, a great Manchester noticed that there was a great Sevilla. You have to try to win there [the second leg]. It is at 50%, but with the advantage of playing with our fans."

    Case for captain

Manchester United fans want to make Casemiro the club's captain after his agent revealed what he did during his time off.

Casemiro had been serving a four-game domestic suspension after a red card against Southampton.

His agent Oscar Ribot has now revealed that Casemiro "wakes up thinking football".

He told the Guardian: "Taking football away from Case is like taking food from his table. It’s like he can’t live, can’t breathe.

"He wakes up thinking about football and goes to bed thinking about football. He watches hundreds of games: any team, any league.

"This month, he’s watched everything [during suspension], calculating the points needed and the days left.

"Case has signed for four years plus one. He’s come to win titles; this month has been hard, but there’s nothing else on his mind."

    Licha on crutches

Lisandro Martinez left Old Trafford on crutches last night following the Red Devils' 2-2 draw against Sevilla.

The Argentina star was carried off by his Argentina pals playing for the opposition team in the 90th minute, leaving United down to 10 men for injury time, during which they conceded.

    Fat chance for Prem rivals

Tottenham have joined Manchester United and Arsenal in the bidding war for Barcelona's out-of-favour wonderkid Ansu Fati, reports suggest.

Spurs will also rival Bayern Munich for Fati, who has slipped down the pecking order at Barca shortly after being handed Lionel Messi's legendary No10 jersey.

The 20-year-old has struggled for minutes under manager Xavi due to inconsistent form and nagging injury setbacks.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the winger's struggles have led to the Blaugrana giving his agent Jorge Mendes permission to explore offers from other clubs.

That works as a major boost for Tottenham, United, Arsenal and Bayern ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, the Premier League giants and reigning Bundesliga champions may have to cough up a whopping £90million for his signature.

You MUST get on with it

Manchester United Supporters Trust told the Glazers to speed up takeover talks because the club is "in limbo".

United announced 143 days ago the Americans were considering selling.

And the fans' Trust fear dragging out the process will harm Erik ten Hag's summer transfer plans.

Finnish tycoon Thomas Zilliacus pulled out of the race on Wednesday after the sale process went to a THIRD round of bidding.

Qatari Sheikh Jassim and Ineos owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the only known bidders, with the Glazers asking £6billion.

Sheikh Jassim wants the whole club, while Ineos are chasing the Glazers' 69 per cent shareholding.

A Trust statement read: "When it was announced the Glazers were inviting offers to buy the club, MUST urged the owners to move ahead with speed."

    Good morning Man Utd fans

Manchester United drew 2-2 with Sevilla in their Europa League quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford after two shocking own goals.

Marcel Sabitzer put United ahead with a brace in the first half as he opened the scoring after 14 minutes and doubled the lead seven minutes later.

But the Red Devils tumbled in the final few minutes of second half with own goals by Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire.

Malacia put the ball in his own net six minutes before the whistle before Maguire did the same in the second minute of stoppage time.

Meanwhile, United have held "positive talks" with Monaco ace Axel Disasi.

It is understood the Red Devils could sell captain Maguire in the summer as he seeks more game time.

That would leave them searching for a replacement centre-back in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to GiveMeSport, the Manchester giants have held promising discussions with the France international over a potential move to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old has shown his versatility in Ligue 1 by playing as both a centre-half as well as a right-back.

And United will have to pay as much as £130million to land Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, writes SunSport's Martin Blackburn.

Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign Bellingham, but Real Madrid remain in the picture.

Manchester City are interested and the Red Devils could also move if their takeover is completed in time for the summer window.

However, Dortmund have not given up hope of keeping the midfielder for yet another season.

But if he does decide to go, the Germans believe the £138m deal they did with Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele back in 2017 is a yardstick for how much they should get for the England international.

Finally, Tottenham have joined United in the bidding war for Barcelona’s out-of-favour wonderkid Ansu Fati.

Spurs will also rival Arsenal as well as Bayern Munich for Fati, who has slipped down the pecking order at Barca shortly after being handed Lionel Messi’s legendary No10 jersey.

The 20-year-old has struggled for minutes under head coach Xavi due to inconsistent form and nagging injury setbacks.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the winger’s struggles have led to the Blaugrana giving his rep Jorge Mendes permission to explore offers from other clubs.

However, Fati appears keen to remain at Barcelona and prove he is worthy of a spot in the starting line-up.

The Kolo Muani has also attracted interest from Chelsea as well as Tottenham.

This progress has seen the France international become one of the top targets this summer, with United leading the way, according to SPORT BILD.

    More from Ten Hag

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag hinted his team was unlucky against Sevilla.

Ten hag told Sky Sports: "We had the game in our hands. We were 2-0 up and we should've scored a third and a fourth. The game was totally on us, and we had some unlucky moments with injuries.

"We had to make some subs with injuries, like Rafa [Raphael Varane] at half time, then we lose control in an unlucky moment and we switched off.

"Then we had another unlucky moment with Lisandro Martinez and we're down to 10 and then we conceded a second own goal. It's bad luck and we have to deal with it."

    Ten Hag on Martinez

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said Lisandro Martinez's injury "doesn't look that great".

Ten Hag told BT Sport: "We've seen with Martinez he drops out after a moment where there was no opponent involved so that doesn't look that great, so we're going to have to wait.

"I can't say at this moment and the same with Rafa [Raphael Varane].

"I haven't spoken to Rafa after the game but it's an injury he's complained about over the past couple of weeks so we have to see how it is now."

    Nani's Man Utd story

Manchester United legend Nani has claimed former manager Sir Alex Ferguson would turn a blind eye to his players arriving at training drunk during Christmas.

Nani told Tribuna Expresso: "If I had the next day off, for example, then I could have some fun… On special days like Christmas or New Year – no one in England cares about that.

"On New Year, we could even go to training drunk and the coach didn't care about it.

"That's the side of [Sir Alex] that knew how to deal with the players and have the perception to say, 'this day is special, I can't make demands'.

"We had been playing non-stop all year long. It was a joy, a moment of relaxation, a different kind of training – clowning around. I won't lie, I liked nights out."

    Rudi Garcia sacking

Al-Nassr, where Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo plays, have parted company with manager Rudi Garcia and appointed his replacement less than half an hour later.

The Saudi club's under-19 coach Dinko Jelicic was handed the job of getting the team back on track and managing stars such as Ronaldo.

Garcia leaves the club in second place of the Saudi Pro League, three points behind Al-Ittihad.

Al-Nassr released a statement that read: "Al Nassr can announce that Head Coach Rudi Garcia has left the Club by mutual agreement.

"The board and everyone at Al Nassr would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their dedicated work during the past eight months."

    Jo for it

Fulham are eyeing a move for Porto midfielder Mateus Uribe – as a potential replacement for Manchester United target Joao Palhinha, writes SunSport's Jordan Davies.

The Cottagers are wary that Palhinha’s incredible form is attracting several suitors – despite the midfielder only arriving in west London from Sporting Lisbon for £20million last summer.

United are monitoring the Portugal international’s situation, with Fulham expected to demand at least £60m for his services.

And SunSport understands that 32-year-old Uribe is seen as the perfect man to step in should they lose Palhinha earlier than expected.

Fulham have made contact with Porto and Uribe’s representatives already, and with the Colombian’s contract expiring at the end of June, a deal would be simple to execute.

However, Atletico Madrid and Lazio are also believed to be in the mix to land the player on a free.
