MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly going to fight Bayern Munich for Fulham's Joao Palhinha in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese midfielder was on the verge of joining the Bundesliga giants for around £60m on deadline day.
Palhinha flew to Germany to complete his medical but the deal collapsed with hours to spare.
According to the Athletic, this has opened the door for United boss Erik ten Hag to swoop for the Fulham star in January's transfer window.
The report claims the Dutchman was impressed with Palhinha's performances against United last season and that the 28-year-old was keen on the idea of a move too.
United were hoping to make the make room in their squad by selling Scott McTominay to Bayern.

Fulham had also hoped to land McTominay as a replacement for Palhinhabut the Scot's reluctance to move there apparently left them with no replacement for their man, causing the deal to collapse.
United ended up signing Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat on loan on deadline day, while McTominay will stay at Old Trafford for the time being.

Tuchel was said to be upset that the deal for Palhinha fell through, according to GOAL.
But if they ignite their interest in January, it looks like they may be in a battle with United for the midfielder's signature.
