The World Cup has helped ease family heartache for England star Mason Mount, Mailonline can reveal.
The Chelsea midfielder’s sister Stacey lives in Australia and gave birth to his niece Poppy more three years ago.
But the pandemic – Australia had some of the strictest travel restrictions in the world – along with the demands of his football schedule, stopped him from seeing her.
But Stacey has brought Poppy to Qatar to meet her uncle at the World Cup.
The 23-year-old footballer, who has reportedly been offered £200,000-a-week in a new contract by Chelsea, was all smiles as he hugged Poppy by the touchline after playing a World Cup match.

The England team’s WAGs enjoyed an extravagant night of boozing onboard their £1 billion luxury cruise ship at the World Cup in Qatar as they racked up a £20,000 bill in a single evening.
The partners of England’s star players celebrated the team’s 6-2 in over Iran on Monday by popping bottles of fine champagne on board the huge ship, their home during the tournament.
Gareth Southgate’s side cruised their way to victory in their opening game, with goals from players including Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham.
Grealish’s model girlfriend Sasha Attwood, 26, and wife of England defender Harry Maguire Fern, 25, were among the group partying until 2am with £250 bottles of champagne on the MSC World Europa earlier in the week.
Megan Davison, 26, girlfriend of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, and Kyle Walker’s wife Annie Kilner were also partying into the night as the WAGs celebrated the Three Lions’ win.

A source told The Sun: ‘They’re on a premium drinks package whilst on board the cruise liner.
‘It was all paid for before they arrived in Qatar. But they were ordering bottles of champagne at £250 a pop as well as cocktails.
‘They then hit the karaoke and were belting out Three Lions and Sweet Caroline.
‘They had an absolute blast and drank so much the bar was restocking the following morning.’
The group on the luxury cruise ship are among the near-7,000 people who have paid more than £6,000 for top-class accommodation during the World Cup in Qatar.

Skimpy tops and short skirts are reportedly banned from stadiums – but the wives and girlfriends of players were permitted to wear football shirts during games.
This was the case on Monday, when Captain Harry Kane’s wife Katie, Raheem Sterling’s fiancée Paige Milian and Jack Grealish’s girlfriend Sasha Attwood posted sweet tributes on social media after England’s win at the Khalifa Stadium.
