Matheus Nunes ‘facing disciplinary action after refusing to train with Wolves to force through Man City transfer’ | The Sun

MATHEUS NUNES has reportedly refused to train with Wolves and is now facing disciplinary action from the club.

The Portuguese midfielder is a top target for Manchester City, who have already seen two bids rejected by the West Midlands outfit.

City saw a £52million offer rejected by Wolves as he was absent from the squad that faced Everton.

Nunes, 25, is considered as a potential replacement for Kevin de Bruyne while he is injured for the remainder of the year.

The Athletic have now claimed that Nunes has stopped training with Wolves.

It is suggested that he has "expressed his wishes" to join Manchester City.

However, it is reported that Wolves will not sell the midfielder unless the Citizens meet his valuation.

The Telegraph has now also claimed that Nunes will face disciplinary action from Wolves and be re-integrated into the team after the window shuts.

City have also considered Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze and West Ham's Lucas Paqueta as alternatives.

However, a move for Paqueta is off following the Brazilian’s alleged breach of betting rules.

Eze, on the other hand, is set to be offered a new contract at Selhurst Park, with the Eagles keen to keep hold of him.

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil was confident his side could hold on to Nunes after the win over Everton.

He explained: "He's an important player for us who has four or five years left on his contract.

"But we rejected a bid because we didn't feel it met our valuation of what Matheus is worth to us."

Nunes still has four years left on his contract, having joined Wolves for a then club-record £38million from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
