WHEN England meet Germany in the final of Euro 2022 tomorrow, two players will know each other better than most.
In a fairytale story, England's Jess Carter will line up on the opposite side to her partner Ann-Katrin Berger.
Berger, 31, is part of the German squad that are looking to win a NINTH Euros title.
While Carter, 24, has featured once off the bench for the Lionesses during their historic run to the final.
But on Sunday the couple will be enemies for 90 minutes, or even 120 if the final goes to extra time or a dreaded penalty shootout.
England defender Carter first met Berger in June 2018 when the German keeper joined her future partner at Birmingham City.

But it wasn't until the pair both moved to Chelsea – Carter in 2018 and Berger a year later – that they first got together.
Carter and Berger are now happily in a long-term relationship, but one will be going home unhappy on Sunday evening.
The couple know tomorrow's venue well, having won the FA Cup with Chelsea on the same pitch earlier this year.
And after Germany booked their place in the final with victory over France Chelsea took to social media, posting a snap of the couple and writing: "Well well well, we'll be seeing you both at Wembley!'

Carter has previously talked about her relationship with Berger as part of the Rainbow Laces campaign, and how she hopes speaking about their same-sex relationship will encourage others to do the same.
Speaking in December, Carter said: "I think I was – and probably still am – more comfortable than Ann is with publicising our relationship.
"But that is just because Ann is a very private person whereas I am more of a ‘the whole world could know and I wouldn’t really care’ kind of person.
"Over time and because I will say whatever, she has kind of got used to it and goes with it. She doesn’t shout from the rooftop about it but equally when she is asked it is not a secret either.
"Not everybody is as comfortable announcing to the world who they are with but I think that is the same in straight and gay relationships."
Carter suggested publicising a same-sex relationship might be more difficult for more high profile players.
She continued: "I think for a lot of people it might depend on your profile, for example if you are a bigger-name player then you might get more scrutiny on it.
"Also, if your family are not as comfortable about it then it might be harder to make it so public.

"So I think it depends on each person’s private situation. And equally they might just simply view it as it is nobody else’s business so might not want to say.
"So there could be a lot of reasons but whatever the situation, we should respect each other."
