MILLIONAIRE racehorse and everyone's favourite grey Lord Glitters has been retired at the age of nine.
David O'Meara's stable sensation was a globe-trotting superstar who won £2.2million during his legendary career.
Owned by the late Geoff Turnbull and his wife Sandra, Lord Glitters won 11 of his 46 races and finished second a further ten times.
He won everywhere, from Meydan in Dubai to Ascot in Berkshire, with a bit of York, Chantilly and even Bahrain thrown in too.
A massive fan favourite wherever he went, O'Meara said the years of racing had finally 'taken their toll' on the brilliant veteran.
Lord Glitters' final race came in the Brigadier Stakes at Sandown in May when he finished 13 lengths behind winner Bay Bridge.
O'Meara told the Racing Post: "It's looking like he'd had enough so we've decided to call it a day.
"He's nine now and years of training and racing have taken their toll – wear and tear really.

"He's had a great career, winning nearly £2.5m in prize money and some good races including the Queen Anne.
"Geoff was always keen to have a Royal Ascot winner, so to win a Group 1 down there for him and his family was very special."
Lord Glitters wasn't cheap, costing an initial £230,000 when purchased at the Arqana Summer sale in 2017.
But he more than justified his fee, scooping that famous Ascot win as well as what was to prove his final victory, the Group 2 Singspiel Stakes, in February.
His June 2019 win in the Queen Anne was worth £340,000.
But he kept his second-biggest win for the £260,000 Bahrain International Trophy last November.
Interestingly, O'Meara was on record just yesterday saying a return to the Middle East was 'number one on the agenda' for the horse.
But the trainer has listened to the horse and decided now is the time to retire him.
One fan paid tribute, saying: "Happy retirement Lord Glitters! What an amazing horse!"
