Bombshell allegations in France have claimed Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was involved in imprisonment of a businessman in Qatar, in order to prevent the publication of documents that allegedly included ‘compromising information’ about the 2022 World Cup bid.
French newspaper Libération published an ‘explosive’ investigation which included a series of allegations against Al-Khelaifi in connection with the imprisonment of businessman Tayeb B in 2020, which he has denied.
Tayeb B, the detained man in question, was arrested in Doha on January 13, 2020 and was imprisoned for close to nine months.
Libération allege that he was detained because he possessed documents claiming to ‘compromise’ Al-Khelaifi.
The alleged documents, according to Libération, are said to contain information of ‘corrupt’ actions in the awarding of the World Cup to Qatar 12 years ago.
Tayeb B, 41, was released from prison on November 1, 2020, after allegedly, according to Libération, ‘handing over’ a USB of the documents to Qatari authorities.

It is further alleged that a confidential agreement was struck to avoid the alleged information ever going public.
Quoted by Libération, a relative of Al-Khelaifi totally rejected all the accusations and said that it is Tayeb B who is at fault.
‘He would have systematically sought to link his Qatari setbacks with Nasser,’ the relative is quoted as saying.
A relative of Al-Khelaifi totally dismissed all allegations against him and blamed Tayeb B
‘He is a blackmailer who wanted millions of euros and who got burned.’
The exhaustive investigation by Libération speaks of the ‘harsh conditions’ that Tayeb B faced in prison before his release.
They claim that the businessman, who lived in Qatar with his wife and children, was subjected to ‘intense psychological pressure’ during his imprisonment.
Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup will be the first ever in the Middle East and gets underway on November 20, running through until December 18.
