New queen of darts could pip Fallon Sherrock to place at World Championship

Beau Greaves, the rising star of women’s darts, could deny Fallon Sherrock a place at the PDC World Championship after an incredible 24-match winning streak over the weekend.

While Sherrock was away in New Zealand at the World Series of Darts, the latest four events in the PDC Women’s Series took place in Hildesheim, Germany. Greaves, 18, who won the WDF Women’s World Championship earlier this year, was making her first appearance in the Women’s Series since 2020, but she made up lost time by winning all four tournaments.

Despite missing the first 12 events of the season, the Doncaster thrower is now fourth in Women’s Series Order of Merit, with the top two landing a place at the World Championship at the Alexandra Palace in December.

Lisa Ashton is already assured of one of those spots but second place, currently held by Sherrock, is up for grabs. The ‘Queen of the Palace’ has a £1,600 advantage over Aileen de Graaf in third, with Greaves another £200 back in fourth.

Therefore, it will be a tense final weekend of Women’s Series events at the end of October, with Greaves confirming she will be in action as she looks to secure a place at the Ally Pally. The teenager’s form has prompted some fans to anoint her the “new queen of darts”.

“There's more to come from her, she plays even better against men, she will win a PDC major title one day, absolutely no doubt about it,” said one fan on social media.

Another added: “She was fantastic this weekend. What a champion. Superior to the rest of the women. Fallon and Ashton no more.” A third said: “Wow! She's now coming of age. Must make all the other ladies a little nervous I think.”

Another simply posted: “New queen of darts.” Ashton, the flag bearer for the women’s game for many years, also has high hopes for Greaves.

Speaking ahead of the Women’s World Matchplay earlier this summer, she said: “She’s very special. I’ve had some good games against Beau and she’s rising at the minute. She’s an awesome player. She’s got a lovely technique. If the young'uns want to take anybody’s technique and study then Beau’s is one of them.”
