Nick Kyrgios has offered his support to Carlos Alcaraz after his struggles with cramp saw him lose his French Open semi-final to Novak Djokovic.
The match was finely poised at one set-apiece before Alcaraz massively struggled with cramping in the third set to allow Djokovic to cruise to victory.
Alcaraz was unable to move and clearly in pain as he required treatment, being forced to forfeit a game on his own serve due to rules surrounding cramping.
The Spanish world No.1 took a break before the fourth set and continued until the end of the match despite genuine fears he could retire early in Paris.
‘Feel for Alcaraz,’ Kyrgios, who lost the Wimbledon final to Djokovic last year, posted on Twitter.
‘Just a big learning process, pretty sure every tennis player goes through this feeling.
‘Cramping due to nervous energy and the anxiety of playing a match with this magnitude.
