Michael van Gerwen is an electrifying player who has lit up many an oche throughout his career.
And fans have been left in awe once more after an old clip from an exhibition match re-emerged on social media, with the Dutchman showcasing his supreme darting abilities with an exquisite 120 finish. In an event dubbed the ‘Night of Champions’, the 33-year-old competed in a quick-fire best of one leg match.
With 120 left on the board and his opponent way back on 274, Van Gerwen had some wiggle room and the pressure was off. There is more than one way to check out with 120, but very few players would even attempt to successfully hit that score by registering three double 20s in a row.
But that’s exactly what the world number two did and made the feat look incredibly easy. The crowd erupted after witnessing his sheer darting brilliance as Van Gerwen turned towards them and outstretched his arms in delight.

Van Gerwen is currently competing in the Premier League Darts, and sits second in table behind debutant Chris Dobey. Last week however, he was defeated by 2021 world champion Gerwyn Price in front of the Welshman's home fans at the Cardiff International Arena.
Price defeated Dobey in the quarter-finals, edged van Gerwen 6-5 in the semi-finals and saw off Nathan Aspinall in the final to cap off a magical night on home soil. The former world No. 1 avenged his defeat to 'The Asp' on night one to secure the maximum five league points and claim the £10,000 bonus prize in the Welsh capital.
"Honestly I loved every minute of it. It's not very often I get this. I'm soaking it all up," an emotional Price told Sky Sports. "I'm lost for words. I don't get this reception very often, so I appreciate every bit of support. It was fantastic.

"How did I win against Michael (van Gerwen)? Michael outplayed me, but I've lost games like that before. The crowd got me over the line tonight. I'm not in the best of form. I was playing well before I was ill at the Masters and then I started feeling sorry for myself.
"I'm still not 100 per cent, but I felt better tonight, and hopefully over the next couple of weeks I will get my form back." Price survived two match darts against Van Gerwen to win a dramatic deciding leg.
It was a disappointing loss for Van Gerwen given he averaged 110.75 in defeat – almost 14 points more than his opponent. However he will look to bounce back tonight as the league heads to the OVO Hydro in Glasgow for the third night of Premier League action.
