THE PREMIER LEAGUE is set to hold a pre-season tournament in the United States next summer, according to reports.
Prem giants like Arsenal and Chelsea played across the pond over the summer and often visit the US in pre-season.
But a new initiative has been launched by the Premier League as part of a plan to begin holding competitive games overseas.
Regular season fixtures are not part of that project but a friendly tournament is pencilled in for late July, report The Athletic.
Six clubs could travel to America to take part in the round-robin competition, which could be made up of two groups of three teams.
That would see each team play two friendlies in cities on the east and west coast of the United States.

Stadiums are expected to sell out for the games, which will be broadcast on a potentially lucrative deal.
Premier League branding will be on show while clubs also could also be set to benefit from sponsorship money.
It is believed 14 Prem clubs are interested in the event although only one of the big six clubs could sign up.
It is also hoped high profile players will feature given there is no major tournament next summer.
