PUNTERS were left licking their wounds after being stung to the tune of £14,000 when a horse who simply couldn't lose… lost.
In one of the most remarkable finishes you will see this or any season, Doyen Ta Win somehow finished second after going 15 lengths clear.
Loup De Tallane, who looked shattered and beaten, sprouted wings after the last to nut the longtime leader at the post.
A total of £14,225 was matched by in-running punters on the Declan Queally-trained Doyen Ta Win after the filly hit the lowest odds available of 1.01 on the Betfair exchange.
Loup De Tallane, who returned 9-2 if you backed him at the off, drifted all the way out to 280 on the exchange – 279-1.
This was the six-year-old gelding's first win at the ninth attempt, after unseating on his last run on October 1.
And on his run prior to that, the Eoin Griffin-trained hurdler was pulled up at Tramore last April.
But there must have been something about the hurdles track at Wexford in Ireland he loved because he looked a fast-finishing superstar last Sunday.

Jockey Gavin Brouder was the man who pulled off the miracle in the saddle.
And Griffin, perhaps tongue-in-cheek, said it was nothing more than a 'well-timed run'.
He told the Racing Post: "We'll have to call it a well-timed run!
"Turning for home there were some choice words being spoken but it's brilliant that we got there. It was a very exciting finish.
"I wasn't sure if he'd love the ground but otherwise I would have been confident he'd run a nice race because he was in good order."
Punters were left stunned at the outcome, which got more unbelievable with each replay.
One joked it was 'scandalous stuff' while another said to his mate: "No doubt we'd have been on the one that got beaten."
