HENRI LANSBURY has revealed that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer during his time at Nottingham Forest.
The 33-year-old, who retired this summer, has opened up about finding out he had the disease in 2016.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Lansbury explained how he initially tried to deal with the diagnosis on his own.
He said: "I was in the shower after training one day, I was having a feel and it was a lump. It was a pea-size lump and over time I thought it would go away. A couple of months past and it was still there.
“It was eating away at me for a few months – having it and not telling anyone and just trying to deal with it myself.
“And it came to the point where I thought I had to see someone and have someone help me out.”

The Arsenal youth product was with Forest at the time of the issues and ultimately had to lean on the club for help with his health.
He explained: “At first I just went down to my local hospital to see if I could get checked out, but they said that the lead time was a few weeks.
“So I had to phone the club and ask for help and they put me in contact with someone to go and get it checked out.
“I had a scan there and he [the doctor] said: ‘alright we will give you the results back in a bit.’
