Sheikh Jassim WINS Man Utd takeover race, according to sensational reports in Qatar | The Sun

SHEIKH JASSIM has won Manchester United's takeover race, according to reports in Qatar.

Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani has been vying with Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos to buy the Red Devils.

Ineos had been the front-runners to purchase a 60 per cent stake in United, which would have seen the Glazer family stay on in a reduced role at Old Trafford.

But according to paper Al-Watan, owned by Sheikh Jassim's dad, the Qatari bid for Man United has been successful.

They add that following "successful" talks – an announcement of Sheikh Jassim's takeover will arrive "soon".

Sheikh Jassim's latest offer for a 100 per cent stake in United is thought to be worth around £5bn.

The Red Devils' takeover race is set to finally reach its climax after seven months of bidding.

It was announced that the Glazer family would be open to selling up all the way back in November – on the same day it had been confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo was to be axed.

Should reports in Qatar be confirmed, Ratcliffe will miss out on buying his boyhood club.

Sheikh Jassim, a member of the Gulf State's ruling family, handed United negotiators an ultimatum last week.

His latest £5bn bid is the FIFTH offer he has made for the club since the beginning of the takeover process.

The Qatari has pledged to pay upfront, while also ridding the Red Devils of all debt.

Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi last week denied being involved in Sheikh Jassim's bid.

It had been claimed that Al-Khelaifi had been asked by United chiefs to persuade Sheikh Jassim to raise his offer.

This prompted speculation surrounding potential wider Qatari involvement in the bid.

Al-Khelaifi said, however: "Paris St-Germain is my club, in my heart, and I have nothing to do with Manchester United.

“It makes me laugh. I am Qatari, right? If people ask me my opinion, I will answer them for sure — and that’s what they do.

“I am talking about anyone, not just Manchester United. I will give them the experience I have.”
