BREAKING: Wolves ref dropped for Prem gameweek 2
Blunder ref Simon Hooper and the VAR team who missed Wolves' blatant last-gasp penalty at Old Trafford have been dropped from next weekend's Prem list.
Hooper somehow failed to spot Manchester United keeper Andre Onana wiping out sub Sasa Kalajdzic in the final seconds of Monday night's game.
Prem refs general manager Jon Moss then personally apologised to Wolves boss Gary O'Neill for the lack of intervention by Stockley Park VAR Michael Salisbury or his assistant Richard West.
And now all three errant officials have been stood down from the fixture list for the coming weekend.
Refs' chief Howard Webb, who also contacted O'Neill to apologise after the game, was swift to accept a key error had been made.
Webb has promised clubs and fans that mistakes will be acknowledged by PGMOL.
The former World Cup Final referee believes it is important that PGMOL has an open and transparent approach.
His conversation with O'Neill alongside that of Moss is evidence of that approach being made a reality.
That includes enhanced accountability for officials with Hooper, Salisbury and West now paying an immediate price for their failings at Old Trafford.

Gerrard reveals he was snubbed by Championship sides
Steven Gerrard has revealed he was snubbed by two Championship clubs before becoming manager of Al-Ettifaq.

He said: "I had a couple of other things on the table at Championship level and I had to make a decision what I believed was right for me.
"In time with being patient, this (Al-Ettifaq) was the best offer on the table because we had two offers that had a chance, they were took away from me rather than me making that decision.
"I was in for two Championship jobs. I’m not afraid to say that, I never got them jobs, and I didn’t want to stay out of the game much longer and this was the best thing on the table at the time."

Neville slams Man Utd midfield
Gary Neville ripped into Manchester United's "non-existent midfield" following their 1-0 win over Wolves.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, he said: "Manchester United's midfield was non-existent, it emptied.
"It was a concern. If you watched Man Utd in pre-season, leaving Casemiro on his own when Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes go forward, it looks great.
"But you’ve got to have a balance. And the front three don't really work hard enough in a defensive sense.
"That would have been a real worry because Wolves have got a new manager only four days ago and a lot of misery around how their season may end up, but they’ve been brilliant tonight."

Neymar's awkward reunion
Naeymar is set for an awkward run-in with Al-Hilal boss Jorge Jesus as he prepares to move to Saudi Arabia.
Jesus will be hoping the star forward's dizzying wages will distract the 31-year-old from remembering what his new manager said about him back in 2019.
The Portuguese tactician insisted the Brazil international wasn't on Cristiano Ronaldo's level and would never become the best unless he changed his mentality.
For me, Cristiano Ronaldo is the best. I don't have any doubts about that. He doesn't score 10 or 20 goals but 30, 40 or 50. He doesn't need to be as 'artistic' as [Lionel] Messi. Everyone needs to look at Ronaldo.
Not just for his quality but for how he is as a professional, how he reached the level he's at. It should be a lesson to any child who wants to play football.
[Neymar] needs to change the way he thinks or he won't get to that level.
If what you have away from the game is more important than perfecting your own play, you'll never become the best. That's what Ronaldo has, the passion [to succeed]. That's the difference.
