Former Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown has been pictured with supporters in Chile – just a day after it was reported he had been declared bankrupt.
HMRC filed a bankruptcy petition against Brown, who reportedly earned £50,000-a-week during his playing days at Old Trafford, on February 27.
The petition was rubber-stamped at the High Court on April 12 and listed on The Gazette, the official public record.
Brown’s struggles comes after former Liverpool star Craig Bellamy recently spoke to Mail Sport about his own battles with bankruptcy last month – saying he felt like he was ‘on death row’.
The defender, 43, was in United’s first team for 15 years having come through the Old Trafford club’s academy ranks.

Legendary Uruguayan striker Forlan spent two years at Old Trafford from 2002-04 alongside Brown.
However, the former Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan star struggled to show his full potential at the club, scoring just 17 goals in 98 appearances.
It has also been reported how Brown – who hasn’t publicly commented since the news of his bankruptcy broke – saw his company, ‘Wes Brown Limited’ struck off last year, after failing to file accounts beyond April 2019 when it repaid a £17,000 loan to the former United star.
Brown was capped 23 times for England during his career and also played for Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers after he left United in 2011. He later played for Kerala Blasters in India before hanging up his boots in 2018.
