FORMER World's Strongest Man champion Žydrūnas Savickas is one of the most impressive powerlifters in history.

The sportsman, from Lithuania, has 83 wins in international competitions and has broken numerous world records.

Who is Žydrūnas Savickas?

Savickas is a powerlifter and professional strongman from Lithuania.

He was born on July 15, 1975, and began powerlifting at the age of 17.

Savickas has said that he first became interested in strength sports after watching a Lithuanian strongman contest on TV.

How much can Žydrūnas Savickas lift?

In 2014, Savickas set a new world record on the log lift, lifting 227kg (500lb).

That same year, he set a new world record in the giant barbell squat event by squatting 329 kg (725lb) for 15 reps.

Savickas, also known as Big Z, has lifted 525kg (1,155 pounds) on hammer tyres.

He also lifted a colossal 1,155 pounds in the deadlift.

Savickas has won the World's Strongest Man competition four times – in 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2014.

He has placed second in the competition six times.

Savickas is also an eight-time Arnold Strongman Classic champion, and has won two IFSA Strongman World Championships.

Savickas has broken over 70 world records and is widely regarded as one of the best Strongmen of all time.

The sportsman hasn't appeared at the World's Strongest Man competition since 2018, when he finished tenth.

He has still competed in other competitions and in 2022 he won his fourteenth consecutive Lithuania's Strongest Man title (his seventeenth overall).

Savickas has said he does still have a desire to compete at the World's Strongest Man.

He told The U.S. Sun during the 2023 finals: "For sure, all athletes want to continue and continue and continue, but to find the motivation is harder and harder.

"And it's harder because you're getting older, more injuries, it's difficult. But my heart does want to compete."

Is Žydrūnas Savickas married and does he have children?

Savickas married his first wife Jurgita Savickienė in Lithuania in 2010.

The pair had been in a long-term relationship before they wed but they then divorced in 2021.

Savickas got married for a second time in October 2022.
