FANS were quick to mock Loris Karius’ choice of gloves for his Wembley debut against Manchester United.
The former Liverpool keeper, who joined on a free from the Reds last summer, was handed a Toon bow against the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup final this afternoon.
That was after Nick Pope’s red card against Liverpool handed him the shock opportunity.
He is Newcastle’s No3 keeper but No2 Martin Dubravka missed the final as he is cup tied, having played on loan at Utd this season.
Karius, 29, suffered a nightmare in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid and has not played a competitive game for two years.
Fans were worried before kick off after footage emerged of him looking nervous while warming up.

However, things did not get much better once the action got underway as Karius found himself and Newcastle trailing 2-0 at the break.
And eagle-eyed supporters were quick to notice his gloves – with some claiming that he’d bought them from B&Q.
One tweeted: “Karius wearing world war 2 gloves.”
Another commented: “I know it's been a while since Loris Karius has been in goal, but did he have to dig his gloves out of the work shed?”

A fellow viewer tweeted: “At least after this match Karius can go straight to doing some blacksmithing without even having to change his gloves.”
Another said: “Why has Karius got my grandads gardening gloves on?”
A fellow tweet read: “Karius is wearing welding gloves!”
As another added: “Karius is wearing world war 2 gloves …that was last time he played!”
Karius was also blamed for his part in United’s second goal, which resulted from Rashford’s effort being deflected over him by Sven Botman.
Commentating on Sky Sports, both Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher agreed that he should have done better.
Neville said: "There is a deflection, it wasn't the greatest strike from Marcus Rashford, but the goalkeeper is going down very early, maybe for the first shot, and then his hand… he just can't get enough on it and it goes over his head.
He then asked Carragher: "There was a lot of focus on Karius coming into the game, do you think he should have saved it?"
Carragher replied: "Yeah he should have saved it, of course he should.

"It's easy to look back, and certainly with the presence and size and stature of Nick Pope, you think he'd have dealt with that comfortably.
"I think the biggest worry with Karius or any Newcastle fan with the goalkeeper was his lack of football, not what happened in a certain game four or five years ago. He'll lack sharpness and confidence no doubt."
