1000lb Sisters star Amy Slaton talks to her nine-month-old
The Slaton sisters are no strangers to teasing and even delivering one or two home truths during their time on 1000lb Sisters.
With both beginning the project in the hopes of improving their health and shedding the pounds, it’s safe to say it hasn’t been an easy journey for either sibling.
But now, weeks after the fourth season has ended, both have recorded life-changing weight losses, with Tammy managing to ditch her 700lb frame.
Tammy has reportedly lost over 300lbs while Amy has shed 150lbs.
But with Tammy ditching more weight than her older sister, a number of TLC viewers now feel it’s making Amy “jealous” and fears about their bond have continued to grow.
The fears were first floated by Redditor u/Cariad96 who put forward the claims under the thread: “Unpopular Opinion: Amy and Tammy are in a competition with each other of some sort when it comes to weight loss.”
In it, they state: “The sibling rivalry/jealousy is uncanny between Amy and Tammy. We’ve seen the name-calling (be it as a joke or pure anger) and witnessed the resentment Tammy has for Amy when she’s approved for weight loss surgery and she’s not.
“But there’s something I’ve noticed that’s not talked about. Recently I’ve noticed Amy puts off her weight loss because she’s busy with her two children.”
The 1000lb Sisters fan then goes on to refer how Amy appears to skirt pass exercising in scenes on the show compared to season one, while Tammy appears to have taken her weight loss more seriously as the series has progressed.
“She’s [Tammy] lost the most weight in season 4 than any season combined and I wonder if that makes Amy fearful she’ll be the ‘bigger sister’ one day,” the user claimed.
And it seems this particular 1000lb Sisters fan isn’t the only one to have spotted friction or signs of a rivalry between the sister.
Replying to the thread, fellow fan u/JaiiGi weighed in: “As for Amy and Tammy having a sibling rivalry, probably.
“They love each other but can’t stand each other and when one succeeds more than the other, there is definitely some kind of jealousy. It’s toxic, but it’s also what they know from how they were raised.”

While u/hey-girl-hey concurred: “Oh 100% I’ve been posting that on here for several months.”
However, u/e-rinc argued: “Amy had always been the smaller sister who has more “normal” life experiences.
“Imo it’s pretty obvious she likes being the smaller sister, and I wouldn’t doubt she would sabotage Tammy to keep her place.”
And u/snicky0738 weighed in: “I think that by Amy seeing Tammy losing weight, she’ll definitely want to work harder to get more weight off.”
While the scenes portrayed on 1000lb Sisters may highlight and exacerbate their rivalry, it looks like the siblings are living harmoniously away from the show.
In fact, Tammy has taken to Instagram and TikTok in recent weeks to show off her babysitting skills as she tends to Amy’s children Glenn and Gage.
The two were also by The US Sun breaking their strict diet guidelines by attending a fast food chain together.
Fans will have to wait until the fifth season of 1000lb Sisters rolls around to see if the two end up supporting each other on their journeys to allay fears of a feud.
1000lb Sisters airs on TLC in the USA.
