The rapper/actor has unveiled the first trailer of his upcoming investigative series, which is set to delve into the murders of rappers, ahead of its premiere on November 3 on WEtv.
AceShowbiz –50 Cent has officially given fans a glimpse of his next big TV project. On Wednesday, September 28, the rapper/actor unveiled the first trailer of his upcoming investigative series, “Hip Hop Homicides“, which will delve into the murders of rappers.
Kicking off the trailer is host Van Lathan, who says in voiceover, “As of 2022, there’s been a staggering number of rappers who’ve been murdered.” He adds, “At least half of those cases are unsolved,” as montage including XXXTENTACION, Mo3, Pop Smoke and King Von flickers on the screen.
The trailer further promises to bring “exclusive eyewitnesses” as the show attempts to bring the murder cases to light. The upcoming series will also feature one-on-one interviews with artists, such as French Montana, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, Vic Mensa and more. Kayla B, King Von’s sister, is also among those who are interviewed for the WEtv show.
Upon watching the trailer, fans showed their excitement. “I’m looking forward to watching this. This series is very much needed today,” one Instagram user said. Another person wrote, “Can’t wait to see the Soulja slim and magnolia shorty episodes. That New Orleans legends. Their story needs to be told to the world.”
Each episode of the investigative series will center on one unsolved murder case. The first episode of “Hip Hop Homicides” will focus on Pop Smoke, who was shot and killed in February 2020 in what was described as a “robbery gone wrong.” The show, however, speculates that it may have been a targeted hit with 50, who served as a mentor to the late rapper, lending his commentary.
50 Cent teams up with Mona-Scott Young as executive producers for the series. “G-Unit Film and Television has thrived by telling real stories,” the “In Da Club” rapper said in a statement in January, adding, “Hip-hop loves things that are damaged. This series will shed light on the artists that didn’t make it through the struggle.” As for Mona-Scott, she shared in a statement that the show is “in response to the disturbing number of murders in hip-hop.”
“Hip Hop Homicides” premieres on Thursday, November 3 at 9 P.M. ET/PT on WEtv.
