The countdown to Christmas has officially begun as our favourite supermarkets release a stint of festive adverts, bringing back some of the iconic characters.
One of which is loveable Kevin the Carrot who takes centre stage in Aldi's Christmas adverts, and this year he has one wish. Kevin made his debut on Monday, 6 November, bringing festive joy as he pays a visit to William Conker’s magical Christmas Factory.
If you haven't already guessed, the advert is inspired by Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as five lucky winners excitedly wait to enter the other side of the Aldi gates. Accompanied by Grate Grandpa, Kevin explores the festive goodie-filled factory where he comes across all sorts of mischief.
This comes from the likes of dancing Plumty-Dumptys and a Spoilt Little Sprout. As his tour continues, Kevin finds that he is the last carrot standing after fellow winners including Greedy, Gluttonous Grape and Naughty Green Kiwi find themselves in a spot of bother along the way.
After passing the hidden test and being gifted the cheese to the factor, in a heartwarming moment Kevin asks the question: "Can I share my good fortune with everyone?". The Aldi advert finishes with the message: "Seasonal goodwill was truly in the air as Christmas is a time that’s sweeter when you share", while a crowd of characters cheer joyfully with the likes of Ebanana Scrooge and Marcus Raddishford.
Talking about the return of Kevin the Carott, Jemma Townsend, Marketing Director at Aldi UK, said: "Christmas is made magical by coming together and sharing the joy of celebration even in tough times- just like Kevin wants to with his Christmas wish.
"It wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens; we know our shoppers will love seeing him getting into the Christmas spirit as we welcome him back for his eighth year with us."
Other supermarkets have gone all out when it comes to creating the ultimate Christmas advert including Asda who brought in the man himself, Michael Bublé. The advert shows the singing sensation as the 'ASDA Chief Quality Officer' who goes around the store inspecting the festive goodies.
Before overlooking the seasonal clothing range from their George collection and checking in on the home delivery service. The advert ends with Bublé singing 'Winter Wonderland' as he stands outside an Asda store with colleagues surrounding him.
Viewers flooded to the comments on YouTube to applaud Asda as one wrote: "What a snatch for ASDA. well done. And congratulations to Mr M Bublè". A second said: "It looks like Bublé took over Christmas for us this year!!! Love this advert! Could watch this all Xmas long…"
