The One Show presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas were joined by Lioness Leah Williamson and Ted Lasso stars Nick Mohammed and Phil Dunster. Commenting on the fact they had “real” and “fake” footballers as guests, Jermaine went on to aim a tongue-in-cheek slur at BBC co-host Alex as he commented on her “fake tan”.

After addressing last year’s immense success for the Lionesses, Jermaine made a remark about the guests.

He pointed out: “Talking of football, you’re going to like this Alex…”

Alex replied: “Yep, come on,” to which Jermaine continued: “You’ve got a retired footballer,” while pointing towards himself.

He pointed to the guests and labelled them each: “Proper footballer, fake footballer, fake coach…”

“Yeah,” Alex stated before Jermaine pointed to her and added: “And you love a bit of fake tan”.

Alex glared at the cameras before shrugging her shoulders and hitting back: “By the way, that’s fine.”

She continued: “Otherwise I’d be ghostly.” Agreeing, Jermaine went on: “You would be ghostly.”

Alex swiftly moved the conversation on to ask her guests about the popular comedy-drama series, Ted Lasso.

“This is a dream, this combo here,” she observed. “And apparently, this is what we heard, you had a night out with the cast?”

Laughing, Leah turned to the two actors and asked: “Night out… would you call it that?”

“I think you can call it that, yeah,” Mohammed confirmed, which seemed to pique Alex’s interest.

“So, tell us all,” an intrigued Alex responded, adding: “Where were you? What happened?”

“We actually ended up in the same place like three times in the space of a week,” the football champion explained.

“I became family by the end, I think I was part of the crew by the end of that!”

She elaborated: “We were at a game at Wembley and you guys were in the box next to ours -“

“I actually wasn’t there,” Mohammed cut in. “But I am pretending that I was there for the sake of the story!”

As the group laughed, Leah added: “You were there, you were on the night out.”

“It was just a big ploy to try and get you in the cast, really,” quipped Phil.

The One Show airs on weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.
