Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) is set to leave the Square for a while after undergoing treatment for prostate cancer in EastEnders.
Alfie was recently rocked when a trip to the hospital revealed that he may be suffering from prostate cancer, with doctors sending him for further tests.
Having received his results, he told Kat Slater and Phil Mitchell (Jessie Wallace and Steve McFadden) that he had been given the all clear, though it will soon transpire that he was lying during a confrontation with Phil.
In upcoming episodes, Alfie is set to undergo a prostatectomy, with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) heading to the hospital to offer her support.
Alfie’s cancer was caught after Phil made him go to hospital after suffering pains, having been punched by son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall).

While Alfie was undergoing tests and waiting for results, he and Phil made it their mission to find a way of fixing Tommy’s behaviour. To do this, they took him to Boxing Den to give him a way of channelling his emotions.
In upcoming scenes, Tommy will face his first proper opponent in the ring, and he is desperate to have Alfie in the audience for his debut fight.
In order to stop him fretting, Phil assures Tommy that Alfie will be there, before taking matters into his own hands and heading over to the hospital to pick him up.
When he arrives, he tells Alfie that he’s taking him to Boxing Den, but Alfie makes it clear that he’s not well enough, and plans to head over to Spain to recuperate there.
Phil returns home alone, and frets about how he will break the news of Alfie’s departure to Tommy.
However, it becomes clear that Tommy has overheard, and he is soon lashing out at Phil once more, insisting that he is a liar.
Later, Kat assures him that Alfie will be back soon, but, having been let down so many times before, Tommy is reluctant to believe her. Will she be able to convince him?
