TV starAmanda Holden has said that “it’s absolutely ridiculous” that people still talk about her risqué outfit choices as she gets set to front the new Sky History documentary Sex: A Bonkers History.
Amanda, 52, who has been a judge on Britain’s Got Talent since 2007, is famed for her sensational looks on the show, though somehave been known to attract a flurry of Ofcom complaints in the past.
And speaking toThe Sun about the topic, the TV personality revealed how she thinks it’s “crazy” that her outfit choices continue to attract so much attention, especially during a time period when we are led to believe that we are “ahead of the game”.
She said: “The Victorians, I think, were to blame – in their eyes everything became more sexualised than it was meant to be.
“It’s crazy that when you think of the hoo-ha around some of my outfits now, we’re still there. It’s absolutely ridiculous that it’s still going on in an era when we really think that we are ahead of the game.”
But despite believing that society is still prudish when it comes to these matters, Amanda added how she believes women have the “upper hand” more than ever before when it comes to sexual matters and liberation and said that women are “very much in control of what we want.”
As a mum of two girls, Lexi, 17, and Hollie, 11, Amanda added that she can speak to her daughters about “everything”, having chosen not to speak to her own mum about sex when she was growing up.
This isn’t the first time that the TV star has addressed her controversial outfits. Back in April 2023,Amanda spoke about the topic during a Q&A session with her fellow BGT judges.
“It's like the problem is everyone talking about my t*ts, while these two [Simon and Bruno] all the time…,” she said. “[Simon's] shirt's always undone and [Bruno's] stripping off. No Ofcom complaints about me this year, please.”
After making the comments, Amanda’s co-starsSimon Cowell andBruno Toniolicame to her defence, and Bruno said: “I don’t understand this complaining, she’s a beautiful woman, they’re beautiful women, why, what is the problem?”
However, Heart radio presenter Amanda vowed to not let the negative comments from viewers get her down and added: “It's nothing, people have too much time on their hands.”
