Amir Khan handed two-year ban from all sport by UKAD for doping
Boxer Amir Khan recently jetted off to South Africa to film ITV’s I’m A Celebrity All Stars alongside other previous contestants in the annual reality show. The spin-off is set to air later this month, but now the sportsman has tested positive for the use of an illegal substance and has been banned from boxing for two years. The update could throw the ITV pre-filmed show into jeopardy.
ITV hosts Ant and Dec recently teased fans with a trailer during Saturday Night Takeaway.
As well as Amir, Carol Vorderman, Helen Flanagan, Shaun Ryder, Phil Tufnell, Paul Burrell, Jordan Banjo, Janice Dickinson and Fatima Whitbread will be appearing on the gruelling show.
Because the new series isn’t live, it won’t include the public vote-off the standard ITV competition relies on.
Instead, the contestants will have to compete against each other in different ways.
It has now been speculated Amir’s scenes might be edited out, which will undoubtedly cause some chaos for ITV.
It’s been reported Amir tested positive for drug use after his defeat to Kell Brook in 2022.
Speaking to The Sun, a TV insider revealed: “This news will have led to discussions internally, it may mean he is featured slightly less prominently or a conversation around camp is now more relevant or revealing.
“But it really depends a lot on what happened in the jungle. The timing of news of this ban is not ideal for ITV.”
The illegal substance in question is reportedly ostarine, which is designed to have similar effects to testosterone and is often used by bodybuilders.
Speaking to Sky News, Amir, 36, denied cheating as a boxer, stating: “I’ve never cheated.
“I’m a retired fighter… you can see by my performance. My performance against Kell Brook wasn’t the best.
“I lost the fight… if I’d gone in and knocked him out it would be different.

“I’ve never cheated in my life… I was the one who wanted testing on the fight.
“The amount that was in my system could have been from shaking hands.”
Amir took part in the 2017 series of I’m A Celebrity, coming in fifth place.
I’m A Celebrity All Stars is set to hit ITV later this month.
