The news we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, as Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have confirmed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here is filming in South Africa to reach our TV screens next year.

And that’s not all, they’ve finally revealed ‘the worst kept secret in telly’, that the new series will see a line-up of all previous I’m A Celeb contestants.

The iconic duo revealed the news on Twitter today, writing: ‘South Africaaaaaaa! That’s right, we’re filming a very special version of I’m A Celebrity in South Africa which is coming to your tellies in 2023.’

In the clip, they both begin: ‘We’ve got news,’ with Dec adding: ‘It’s probably the worst kept secret in television, but we can confirm we’re doing a very special series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in South Africa!’

They show off the incredible view behind them as they scream South Africa, before Dec adds: ‘We’re here, it’s going to be your favourite celebrities from the last 20 years who are going back in to do it one more time.’

I’m A Celebrity was forced to swap Oz for Wales in 2020 due to travel restrictions as a result of the Covid pandemic, with Giovanna Fletcher becoming the first Queen of the Castle.

The series returned to the castle for another year in 2021, which saw Emmerdale’s Danny Miller crowned winner.

I’m A Celebrity last took place in the jungle in 2019, which saw former EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa crowned queen of the jungle, with Coronation Street’s Andy Whyment coming second and Roman Kemp landing the third spot.

A first look at this year’s campsite shows it to be under construction near Murwillumbah in Australia.

Debris litters the site currently, but some sets are still in place, including a fake Wild West-style main street.

The treehouse where Ant and Dec present most of the show and where they greet evictees from the camp is also covered in debris following the three-year hiatus, but it appears to have a new red roof.

Meanwhile, pools where contestants undergo water challenges appear to currently be filled with green algae.

The crew’s production site is also bustling with cars as workers get busy making the huge site ready for the new series, which is expected to begin in early to mid-November.

I’m A Celebrity returns to ITV later this year.
