Antiques Road Trip expert Philip Serrell and his co-star Natasha Raskin Sharp were hunting for hidden gems in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, as part of the popular BBC programme. Philip ended up dropping a glass decanter he purchased for £10, but luck was on his side as the item made the biggest profit out of all the items in the episode.
The auctioneer was “relieved” when his decanter made a profit despite having dropped it ahead of the all-important auction.
Philip, 68, has visited Randalls Antique in the Barras and fell in love with a 19th Century green glass decanter during the episode.
The shop dealer highlighted how the Bohemian decanter was not in the best condition.
She told him: “It’s had a really, interesting repair on it because the stopper has been broken off inside the bottle but as a decorative, it’s lovely.”
Despite the problem, Philip shook hands with the shop owner and bought it for £10.
Later on, Philip entered the auction room in Halifax where auctioneer James Watson tried his best to sell all the items presented to him.
Most items only made a small profit, but James was excited to tell Philip there had been a large bid for the decanter.
“Big bid coming in straight away for this Bohemian piece – £70,” James said and raised his gavel.
“£80 now and that one selling, then, for £80.”
Presenter Natasha was gobsmacked by the great result but Phillip remained calm and collected.
He told Natasha: “I knew this all the time, I thought this might make £100 really.”
“I don’t know about chuffed,” the presenter continued: “I’m relieved.”

Natasha, 36, chimed in: “I just love it. I love the story of that decanter. It was in the Barras, it was broken.
“You dropped it, you fixed it. It made you, what, a £70 profit? It’s too good.”
Her co-star grinned and replied: “I’m going back to the Barras. I’m now a Barras boy.”
By the end of the instalment, Philip had a total of £212.94, making him the winner of the third part of the road trip.
Antiques Road Trip fans have been taking to Twitter to comment on Natasha and Phillip’s camaraderie.
Martin Cork shared: “They’re like royalty of Antiques Road Trip now.”
Mavis Yates added: “You two are always great together.”
