Antiques Roadshow: Items valued at £500 each
An Antiques Roadshow guest was left gobsmacked after their father’s tableware was valued at an eye-watering price. On the BBC show, the guest met with specialist Ronnie Archer Morgan and the pair discussed the tablecloth and tea cosy which had origins from both India and America.
The guest said: “These were my dad’s, Kenneth Steel, who joined the Navy in 1941.” He then explained that Kenneth was just 17 when he joined the force. One year later in 1942, he set sail on HMS Quentin – which tragically sank.
Luckily, he survived and was able to travel the globe. Less than two years later he was assigned to another mission in India.
After inspecting the tablecloth, it was revealed it had a gold thread running through the material dating back to the 1900’s.
Although the tea cosy was not from India, that was from another unique destination.

Ronnie said it was a “very sought after and collectable” and explained that it was from the other side of the world, originating in the USA.
Ronnie spotted markings of the Northeast Woodlands, made by the Iroquois tribe and said it featured some of “the finest bead work in the tribal world”.
The pair would be valued at a whopping £500 each.
The stunned guest was clearly taken aback and replied: “Thank you, I am [very proud of him].”

Antiques Roadshow is a staple of Sunday night television, although the show has been affected by a BBC shake-up.
It usually airs on BBC One on Sunday but last month it was forced to move to BBC Two.
This comes after Joel Dommett’s new version of the iconic 2000s competition series, Survivor, returned to screens.
Fans were outraged that their favourite show had been moved.
Taking to X [formerly known as Twitter], one wrote: “Antiques Roadshow has been relegated to BBC2 for this rubbish of people behaving like Tom Hanks in Castaway no doubt for lots of money, Survivor UK on BBC1.”
