One of the biggest Emmerdale love affairs since the days of Robron is about to come crashing down and our little hearts can’t take the drama.
Ever since Arthur and Marshall clapped eyes on each other we’ve been rooting for them, but sadly, there is a big tragic twist in their love story.
It’s been the most beautiful thing to see Arthur (Alfie Clarke) and Marshall (Max Fletcher) go through an epic journey of both coming out and becoming each other’s first true loves.
Marshall’s homophobic dad almost came between the teenagers when he put a kibosh on their relationship due to his strong religious views. Then it was discovered how abusive Colin was to Marshall, and it became Arthur’s mission to save him.

With his objective achieved and Marshall safely under Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) roof, Arthur hoped they could begin a romance, but Marshall initially asked if they could just remain friends while he adjusted to life.
But eventually the lads had that first date, and it was all kinds of beautiful, despite being a little bit of a disaster. Since then, things have blossomed between them, but it’s all set to change when Marshall’s Aunt comes on the scene.
In a brutal move, Arthur is left broken when Marshall tells him he wants to end things. He’s off to live with family, so they won’t be able to continue things as they are. Marshall thanks Laurel for everything she’s done, gives Arthur a final hug, and heads off for his new life.
And that’s it. Was his decision prompted by the guilt of the family sacking off their Australia trip for him? Is he leaving because he feels like a burden?
Arthur is left sobbing over his pain, and oblivious sister Gabby (Rosie Bentham) makes things worse when she bulldozes in and makes everything about her. Arthur has been through so much with Marshall, how will he react to this loss?
