Bake Off winner says ‘ignore them’ after sharing advice to new contestants

Great British Bake Off: Amos is eliminated

Last year’s winner of The Great Bake Off has told the current contestants what they should ignore during their time on the Channel 4 show.

Reigning champ Syabira Yusoff impressed judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with her bakes as viewers saw her crowned the champion of her series.

However, with a batch of contestants entering the tent for the first time last month, it won’t be long until a new baker follows in Syabira’s footsteps.

Speaking to Express.co.uk on behalf of People’s Postcode Lottery, Syabira gave some words of wisdom to the current contestants.

She said: “I would say just enjoy every single moment.

“When you’re watching it, you are reliving your experience and it will sometimes be overwhelming with all of the attention.”

Syabira revealed there will be a lot of comments from viewers as the show goes out on Channel 4 a few months after it’s filmed in the summer.

She added: “If you’ve got any negative comments, just ignore them.

“Don’t let anyone tell you that there are negative comments about you, because the internet can be a very funny environment.

“But if they have any questions, if they need any kind of consolidation or anything they always can reach out to any of us. We’ll all be happy to help out and navigate based on our experience after the show.”

So far in the competition, two bakers have left the tent with Amos becoming the first to get eliminated,

Last Tuesday, fans said goodbye to Keith as the contestant struggled with biscuit week.

In a letter, published on Twitter, he spoke about his exit as many were saddened to see the baker leave early in the competition.

He said:” It’s been a huge privilege for me to be included in the mix with some exceptionally talented individuals.

“I honestly feel like I have improved as a person from the time I spent in their company.”
