Nadine Dorries discusses government advisor Dougie Smith
BBC Breakfast fans have been left reeling at the broadcaster after Nadine Dorries appeared on the show.
On Thursday morning, the former MP spoke to hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty about her new book titled The Plot.
During her conversation with the hosts, the topic quickly turned to Boris Johnson breaking lockdown rules during the covid pandemic.
Addressing the subject, Nadine told the presenters: “Well, he got fined for a cake coming into his office, with Rishi Sunak, they both were.”
Charlie replied: “But he did break lockdown rules didn’t he? And was fined for it.”

However, Nadine told Charlie that the nature of a meeting was then turned into an event due to there being a cake in the room.
Picking up on her response to his statement, the BBC host said: “You were shaking your head when I told you that he broke lockdown rules and was fined. You were shaking your head to say, ‘Well he wasn’t.'”
She replied: “Look, Boris Johnson is a man who has never attended, he had this ‘partygate’, he never attended a single party in number 10 and I think the evidence he’s given to the privilege committee attest to that.”
Showing their guest photos of the former PM enjoying a beverage in a room full of people at what seems to be party, Nadine defended him once again.
She replied: “That’s a room that he walked into to give a thank you, which was socially distanced, a thank you to a member of staff who was leaving.”
