BBC Breakfast underwent a major shake-up on Sunday morning (March 28) as host Charlie Stayt was absent from the studio.

Since making his debut back in 2006, Charlie is a regular on the hit BBC show – hosting from Monday to Saturday with co-host Naga Munchetty.

The pair have gone down a treat with viewers at home, so much so that they have grown used to seeing them on their screens as they start their day.

But fans hoping to kickstart their Saturday with Charlie were in for a shock as he was missing from his usual spot on the famous red sofa.

Instead, Roger Johnson had stepped into the hot seat to host the show with Naga so she wasn't left to hold the fort on her own.

Roger is a presenter on the regional BBC programme North West Tonight, but he's also been a regular presenter of BBC Breakfast on weekends since 2012.

Roger’s appearance during Saturday’s show isn’t his first this week – as he fronted the programme on Friday too.

It's not the first presenter shake-up on BBC Breakfast this week as Roger fronted the programme with Naga on Friday too.

And on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jon Kay was replaced by Ben Thompson.

Jon usually hosts the programme with Sally Nugent from Monday to Thursday before handing over the to Charlie and Naga at the end of the week.

Ben is one of Breakfast's batch of relief presenters who to are called in to host the show when the main presenters like Jon are unable to do so.

He also co-hosts Business Live, the BBC's daily business show which is broadcast on BBC News and BBC World News.

ITV has also faced recent presenter changes too – as This Morning host Phillip Schofield has taken a week off from the show.

This meant Alison Hammond, usually fronts the ITV show with Dermot O'Leary on Fridays, joined Holly Willoughby at the helm of Monday' episode.
