Katie also shared a screenshot of her offer letter before being flooded with congratulatory messages from members of the BBC team.
Naga was one of the first to respond, as she gushed: "Congratulations! xx."
Katie replied: "Thank you Naga."
Former BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker replied with a series of clapping hand emojis.
Owain Wyn Evans tweeted: "Katie I am so thrilled for you. And can’t wait to see you! Xx."

Recently on BBC Breakfast, Naga told her co-star Carol Kirkwood she'd be "popular" soon.
The breakfast host was implying that the meteorologist had not been too popular with the general public in recent weeks because of the heatwave.
Speaking about the possibility of showers coming soon Naga swiped: "That's the thing though isn't it Carol, when you finally do get some splodges of rain on your graphic you'll be ever so popular."
Laughing off the presenter's comments, Carol replied: "I'm going to be ever so pleased as well."
Carol went on to explain "If you take into account all the problems that farmers and growers have but I look at my own garden and it's like the Gobi desert, the soil is like sand, it's really powdery and lawn is brown."
"You'll work your magic Carol I know you will," Naga responded.
Meanwhile, Naga sent social media fans into a frenzy last week as she took to her platform with a "beautiful" selfie with Sky Sports presenter Sarah Stirk.
The newsreader had been enjoying a weekend golfing with her friends and posted the 'beautiful selfie online.
Uploading a slew of images, she captioned: "Had a brilliant few days in Sunny Scotland playing with old and new friends. We played well, laughed and came 2nd in the Pro-Am – missed out by 1 shot!"
