Strictly: Carlos Gu in tears after dance with Angela Scanlon
Strictly Come Dancing fans were left stunned as Angela Scanlon left the series during the latest results show.
The Irish television presenter found herself in the reader dance-off alongside partner Carlos Gu and co-stars Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin.
Following the shock result, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke decided to save Layton.
Head judge Shirley Ballas admitted she would have saved Angela, who narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals.
After the decision was made, Angela stated: “It’s been incredible, I’m gutted, really gutted, that it’s finished now.”

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, @FireFighterAFC penned: “It’s a fix. Did it last week. Put the strong contestant in the dance off so there’s only one choice when it comes to saving them. The other couple are out. #Strictly.”
@Lost_In_Films_ shared “Making Angela dance again, going through the motions, no real surprise the judges will save Layton.
“They are just fuming it wasn’t Nigel in dance off with him so they could get rid of him, as the higher bookie favourite to him with viewers #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”

Saturday’s live show saw Angela and Carlos performing the Cha Cha to Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive.
She received mixed feedback from the judges, with Motsi stating: “A Cha Cha to such an iconic song… That’s a big song there.
“I feel like your personality fitted it completely, you lifted the energy, you went with the song and you didn’t let it get you down.
“I would have liked a little more knee action to make it a bit more flowy, but energy, performance, everything – off the roof.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.25pm on BBC One for the Musicals Special episode.
