BBCs Charlie Stayt snaps move on after co-stars mock him as joke flops on air

It was all a bit awkward on BBC Breakfast this morning!

Presenters Charlie Sayt and Naga Munchetty were joined by Holly Hamilton early today and were discussing the cricket – and more specifically, cricket puns.

All three tried to come up with their own jokes but it was one in particular that dropped like a lead balloon, with both Naga and Holly roundly mocking it.

Charlie, 60, said: “Now my efforts so far with the play on words of the cricket have been met with some derision, I would say.”

Holly, 35, interjected with: "It was mildly impressive for 6am.”

He continued: "I've been working on this one. Folks and Stokes get great results."

Jeering at his pun, Holly continued: "Have we got a tumbleweed?"

Moving the segment on, a red-faced Charlie added: "Move on, Chris, have you got the weather?"

Yes, we’re dying too!
