The Sir Alex Ferguson boot saga and his opinions on Posh and Becks
David, now 48, first found fame when he worked his way up through the ranks at Manchester United Football Club under the watchful eye of Sir Alex Ferguson.
For those who don’t know the winger and his manager came to blows on numerous occasions – and David was eventually sold to Real Madrid in 2003.
One infamous row saw Sir Alex kick a studded boot into David’s face – leaving him with a busted eyebrow that required stitches.
Recalling the shocking argument between the pair, the former England captain revealed in the documentary his former boss lobbed a boot at him after he told him to “f*** off” off the back of United’s loss to rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup fifth round.
It was also revealed the boot belonged to former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who went on to manage the premier league team himself.
“We walked in the changing room and the boss is fuming. I can see it by his face. And when you see the boss’s face like this, you don’t want to be anywhere near him. It is a face that no one can do, trust me.
“I went back at the boss and said ‘no’ and then I swore. I said the f-word. And then I saw him change, and I was like, ‘s***, I really shouldn’t have said that’. I think I said the f-word too many times.”
David was later seen with butterfly stitches on his eyebrow during training which caught the eye of fans and newspapers.
The scene then cuts to Sir Alex, who goes on to tell his side of the story: “I kicked the boot at his head. I mean, honestly, it was an absolute freak.”
When he is asked about the photos, he replies: “Yeah I’m not going to talk about that. The only thing I will say is that I think that was stage-managed. It wasn’t even worth a stitch.”

David and Sir Alex also butted heads over his relationship with Victoria and the overwhelming celebrity status that came with being Posh and Becks.
When Sir Alex was asked about the folded couple, the straight-talking Scot didn’t hold back claiming: “Well, he changed. There’s no doubt about that.”
The former England captain said that “life had become something different,” before insisting that “It definitely didn’t change me,” referring to his relationship with the Spice Girl singer.
David’s alleged affair with Rebecca Loos
20 years on from when the shocking claims were made, David and Victoria break their silence on claims the football star had an affair with his former assistant Rebecca Loos.

In 2004, David was hit with allegations that he had an affair with Rebecca, now 46, who sold a story to News of The World and claimed she had a relationship with him while he was playing for Real Madrid.
Rebecca described herself as David’s “second wife” and made a number of TV and public appearances following making the damaging claims, while also posing in a series of lads’ mags.
David admitted: “There was some horrible stories which were difficult to deal with,” when it came to the rumoured affair.
“It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage.”
Victoria also explained how she felt at the time and how the allegations impacted the pair’s relationship.
“It was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us,” she said.
She went on to add: “I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare.
“It was an absolute circus – and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town, right? Unless you’re in it.”
The pair still deny the “ludicrous” claims Rebecca made.
Victoria’s World Cup pregnancy bombshell
In another revelation spoken about in the documentary, Victoria reveals she dropped the news of her first pregnancy to David the night before his England side played Argentina at the 1998 World Cup – in which they lost.
The same major football event where David was famously shown a red card and sent off.
Victoria made the call to David while she was in New York, she recalled: “I told David the night before the game. He was so, so happy, we both were and there was never any doubt in my mind that I should tell him.
“I mean, it was what we wanted and he could not have been happier,” she noted.
She was then questioned if she thought breaking the news to David at that specific time “would help him,” to which Victoria replied: “I don’t really know.”
David then details his account of the story: “Before the Argentina game, she phoned me and said I’ve just taken a test and I’m pregnant. So I found out then.
“The first thing I wanted to do (was get out of there and be with Victoria) but I couldn’t, we were in a major tournament.”
Kidnap and death threat horror
Following on from England’s devastating 1998 World Cup loss, David was regularly abused in the street, with one crazed fan even sending a bullet in the post to Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium.
Looking back on what should have been a happy time of the birth of his first child Brooklyn in March 1999 at London’s Portland hospital, David said: “The moment he came out, I all of sudden thought ‘how am I going to protect him?’
“That night Brooklyn slept next to Victoria. Victoria was like ‘come on squeeze on the bed with me’ and I was like ‘absolutely not, I’m sleeping with my head against the door,’ because I was paranoid that someone was gonna steal him,” the sportsman revealed.
“It’s meant to be a happy moment. And it was a happy moment of course. But I was worried,” he went on to say, adding: “I didn’t want him to come into this life, at a time where I was going through what I was going through.”
Posh Spice further added: “We were getting kidnapping threats, right from when we had Brooklyn. “I mean, you can’t even explain how that feels, because we couldn’t hide.”
And Beckham said: “When there were kidnap threats, that was when it got scary.”
Beckham is available to watch now on Netflix.
