The EastEnders mainstays are in for a big shock when Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) arrives back in Walford, 15 years since she left the Square as a full-time character.
Yolande, as viewers know, is often mentioned in conversation, specifically in regards to Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker), who considers her to be his one true love.
Patrick temporarily departed the Square earlier this year after being inspired to take a chance on love, hopeful to win Yolande back, but he subsequently returned on his own and has remained tight-lipped about what happened between he and his former flame.
But answers are seemingly set to be given when Yolande rocks up in Walford next Monday (August 7), interrupting Patrick, who is dishing out love advice on Kim Fox’s (Tameka Empson) latest vlog.
Leaving Patrick speechless, the former shop assistant explains that her boyfriend Anton has kicked her out and that she’d very much like to stay with him.
Patrick, however, reveals that he doesn’t think it’s a good idea, which leaves Yolande devastated as she storms out.
Denise (Diane Parish) is baffled by his reaction and goes after Yolande, sharing a heart-to-heart with her, begging her to stay, before turning her attention to Patrick, determined to get to the bottom of his reasoning for turning Yolande down.
The salon owner urges Patrick to take a chance on love before it’s too late, telling him to show Yolande just how much he cares for her.
Will Patrick take her advice?
Or will he let his one true love slip through his fingers as she sets off for Birmingham to return to a man she doesn’t love?
Denise’s words ultimately have a profound effect on Patrick, who manages to track Yolande down, with the pair going to the launderette for a good old fashioned heart-to-heart, discussing whether they are each other’s future, or simply ghosts from their past.
We’re hoping it’s the former!
It was confirmed earlier this year that Yolande, who appeared full-time between 2003 and 2008, was staging an EastEnders comeback, six years after her surprise guest stint.
