A BOYBAND star has quit his group with a blistering parting show while saying “I can’t watch our legacy decay.”
Jaymi Hensley is a member of Union J, and he made his announcement via Twitter on Tuesday evening, much to the surprise of his fans.
The 33-year-old musician wrote: “To all the Union J fans, it is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to say I am no longer continuing on my journey as a member of Union J.
“Since day one, our family of fans has brought me love, light and support and has been the main reason for me being such a driving force within the band.
“Last year was the best year of my life being back out on stage with the boys and being in front of you all again.”
He continued: “I hoped and dreamed of all possibilities afterwards, but this has not happened for several reasons, and therefore, out of love & respect to the family of fans and my integrity as an artist, I cannot sit and watch the legacy that I have tried to sustain for a decade decay any further.

“I will continue to carry artistry, integrity and creativity as my driving force, but now is the time to focus the energy I have consistently put into Union J into myself and create art and music for us all to enjoy together.”
Jaymi ended his statement by writing: “I truly love you, forever yours.”
The Union J lads reached the semi-final of X Factor in 2011 then had a string of hit singles.
They’ve since admitted that they were dropped by their label Epic Records following their 2014 album You Got It All — only weeks after having a No2 hit — which led to their demise.

The band were set to perform five special shows in 2023, as part of their reunion tour, but they left fans furious as they quietly cancelled them.
Last month, a fan took to social media to share that the Union J The Reunion Tour wouldn’t be taking place at Liverpool Empire Theatre after their ticket was refunded.
The person in question received an email, which read: “Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the promoters of the show have taken the difficult decision to cancel the performance that was due to take place on 03 June 2023.
“We understand the disappointment this will cause and apologise for any inconvenience.”
Hitting out at the band, the fan captioned the post: “The silence from them on all of this is actually disrespectful.”
Other fans were left furious too, as one wrote: “So Union J are posting on the personal accounts, but haven’t said anything about the tour cancellation!
“Kind of low-key glad I never got tickets if this is how they are going about it. I love them but they HAVE to ADDRESS this matter.”
Another wrote: “lads pls don’t use the band account on Insta to promote your own stuff when you can’t even give us a reason (as of yet) to why there is no tour You’re just gonna add fuel to the fire.”
