Carol Kirkwood rinsed by BBC Breakfast co-stars as she 'disappears' from screens after live blunder | The Sun

BBC BREAKFAST’S Carol Kirkwood was made the target of a joke by her fellow presenters during a live broadcast today.

Carol, 60, was doing a segment on the snowfall across parts of the UK following Tuesday night's Arctic blast when her colleague Nina Warhurst followed up with a couple of questions.

She said: "So it looks beautiful, but as you say, Carol, it's important to be careful."

It was then that Carol suffered a technical failure and her earpiece stopped working so she could no longer hear Nina and her co-host Jon Kay in the studio.

Holding her hand up to ear in a failed attempt to hear the live audio, Carol said: "I'm so sorry, I can't hear you. I can see you are talking."

Nina tried to move past the blunder saying, “Oh that's alright,"  but Jon made a joke about selective hearing, and said: "I might get one of those as well."

Nina replied: "I thought you always have one on this side of your head when I am talking to you."

Carol was then out of vision and off screen where Jon continued his joke, he said: "Carol's gone, she's gone, She's got no idea. We can just say what we like.”

The jovial atmosphere counted on the show as Jon and Nina laughed while they looked at photographs viewers had sent in following a the snowfall.

Later on in the show Carol explained how last night was the coldest of the year with temperatures reaching -15C in some areas.

It’s not the first time Carol has vanished on air, in 2019 she shared footage to Twitter of her disappearing from the screen after she wore green to present the weather against a green screen to which a map is projected.

Alongside the image she wrote: “And this is why we don't wear green against a green screen.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
