Fans of BBC's hospital drama Casualty were "already crying" during the latest episode after David Hide was brutally attacked outside his home.
Last week, the nurse was left in turmoil when he discovered that his son was responsible for the killing of several students and teachers at his school.
Although his child Oliver wasn't the main culprit, the young lad was an accomplice in the school shootings.
On Saturday night, although Oliver died of his injuries, David was left to pick up the pieces from what happened the week before.
But as a mob approached and attacked the medic, fans were left heartbroken by their actions and told them not to blame David for his son's wrongdoings.
Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts.
One person wrote: "This is heartbreaking, people blaming David for what his son has done."
Another said: "David is suffering a double tragedy. The death of his son in awful circumstances and the knowledge that his son is responsible for so many deaths of others. His son is to blame, David is not."
A third chimed: "Poor David he is not responsible #Casualty its wrong he is suffering like this."
While a fourth simply penned: "Already crying."
Last week, Casualty came under fire from viewers for the distressing scenes that were aired on the school shooting.
Fans were left shocked by what they saw as Oliver and his friend Rob takeover the school with guns in hand.
Although the postponed scenes were filmed in January, spectators believed that it was far too close to the school to the Uvalde massacre in Texas, where 19 children and two teachers were killed at Robb Elementary School in May.
Sharing their thoughts, viewers branded the scenes "distasteful" and called the BBC out for showing it.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer penned: "This is such bad taste
While another said: "Very poor taste. I've experienced a lockdown drill in a secondary school in the UK and that was terrifying without it being real. This is sensationalising tragic events that happen regularly in the USA. No student or teacher should have to deal with this."
