Chicago Fire season 11 episode 16 promo
Chicago Fire fans were thrilled to hear that Jesse Spencer will be making a return to Firehouse 51 as Matthew Casey during the 18th episode of Season 11. It’s the first time fans will see the firefighter’s face since his departure from the drama in the season 10 finale, when he and Brett (Kara Killmer) debated whether their long-distance relationship would work.
This week’s episode of Chicago Fire teased the return of a familiar face, popular character Matthew Casey.
Earlier this month, it was announced that the former fire captain would be making a one-off comeback to the hit drama series by an inside NBC source.
The actor is set to make an appearance in next week’s episode called Danger Is All Around.
And the latest instalment of the show titled The First Symptom, gave a subtle nod to Spencer’s impending appearance.
In the episode, veteran firefighter Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and battalion chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) discuss Herrmann’s wife Cindy (Robyn Coffin) as she waits on her chemotherapy results.
The pair share a touching moment as they discuss a certain former colleague keeping tabs on Cindy’s progress.
Speaking to Wallace, Christopher said: “You know who’s been calling to check in regularly [on Cindy]?”, before adding “Matt Casey”.
Wallace says that it is “good to hear” as Matt is still in touch with the couple and that he is “not surprised” to hear of his check-ins.

Spencer formally left the main Chicago Fire cast in Season 10, so this mini-return will be exciting for fans.
It has not been confirmed what Spencer’s role will entail but NBC have released the synopsis that gives a brief description of what fans can expect in next week’s episode.
It reads: “A familiar face returns to Firehouse 51 to serve with Kidd on a special task force; with Tony close to breaking the CFD’s perfect attendance record, Mouch and Capp work to keep him safe; old grudges resurface when Gallo reunites with a family member.”
Chicago Fire airs on NBC in the US and on Sky Witness in the UK.
