Coronation Street star Joan Savage has passed away aged 89.
The actress played ballroom dancer Celeste Pickersgill in a brief stint in July 2000. The star had an illustrious career which spanned more than six decades and was best known for her role in The Arthur Haynes Show.
She also appeared in an episode of Dad's Army in 1972. Joan's daughter, Kelly Reynolds, paid tribute to her mother in a statement.

She said: "Mum always used to say 'I’d like to go with my tap shoes on' so the last few years have been extremely difficult for her and us as a family. I hope she’s reunited with her showbiz contemporaries and putting on a show up there!"
Joan passed away peacefully earlier this month at Brinsworth House, Twickenham. Her cause of death is yet to be revealed.
At the age of 12, Joan joined the Blackpool Children's Tower Ballet at Blackpool Circus. Her versatile skills included riding elephants, rollerskating, singing and dancing, all of which led to her appearing on Mr Ronnie Taylor’s Variety Fanfare on BBC Radio.

She then toured as the leading lady in a George and Alfred Black revue called Music and Madness. During this tour, Joan first met husband Ken Morris.
The couple tied the knot in 1955 and went on to team up as a well-known double act. Joan still pursued a solo career, recording covers of popular love songs and sharing her own brand of comedy and impressions.
Ken was diagnosed with a brain tumour and passed away in 1968, eight years after welcoming their daughter Kelly. Joan remarried a man named Bryan in 1972.
Joan appeared in several regular soloist on Friday Night is Music Night and had her own series, The Pleasure of Your Company and Joan Savage Sings.
In recognition of her talent and services to the industry, Joan was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2008. The actress leaves behind her husband Bryan, daughter Kelly and grandsons Mark and Simon.
