CORONATION Street fans have been left demanding that a long-running character be axed from the show amid his betrayal of Ryan Connor.
Simon Barlow, played by Alex Bain, has been on the ITV soap since he was a child but many fans think the time has come once and for all for soap bosses to axe him entirely.
He has been involved in a scheming plot which has exposed Daisy Midgeley's cheating ways with Ryan Connor to her fiance Daniel Osbourne, who is also Simon's uncle.
Simon found himself caught up in the love triangle when he noticed that Ryan's phone was still recording for one of his social media tutorial videos as part of his prospective new role as the head of the online team at a new gym.
Whilst Simon went to switch the recording off, he played back the footage which included Daisy and Ryan's acknowledgement that they slept together months prior.
Deciding to out the pair's cheating, he sent the video across to Daniel who was left floored to discover just what had been going on.

With Daniel eventually keeping it to himself and playing happy families, it was Simon who came off worse among fans who blasted his actions.
Unhappy, there were calls for him to be axed completely with one raging that he was a "pointless" character.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan wrote: “Simon Barlow. Most useless character currently on Corrie.”
