Coronation Street fans were quick to call out ITV bosses for Faye Windass’ lowkey exit after 12 years on the Cobbles.
The beloved admin assistant – who is played by actress Ellie Leach in the long-running soap – officially waved goodbye to Weatherfield with her ex-boyfriend Jackson and their daughter Miley on Wednesday (May 24).
After learning that she wanted to run away with her daughter and her ex-boyfriend, her fiancé Craig Tinker blackmailed her to stay with him by holding the guilt of her hit-and-run over her head.

But the detective had a change of heart as he watched her wave goodbye to her long-lost daughter in the latest heartbreaking scenes.
He told her: “You don’t have to do this, pretending everything is OK. Maybe this will never be OK. Maybe you will never be happy with me.
“And one day you’ll look back and think ‘What if?’ but right now you have a choice. If you want to, you can go with Miley and Jackson, you can be together.”
Faye tried to insist that she loved Craig, clearly still terrified that he would report her to the police, but the copper gave her his word that her secret was safe with him.
He asked her: “Do you love me more than Jackson? If you stay with me, are you going to be settling for second best?
“Maybe if you do go, you’ll be able to forgive me for everything I’ve ever done wrong. For trying to trap you. I never meant to hurt you, I didn’t want that.
“I just wanted to make you happy and this will make you happy. So go on, what are you waiting for? Get a move on.”
It was at this point that Faye rushed off to pack her bags before she surprised Jackson and Miley with her last-minute decision.
The brunette beauty shared an emotional farewell to her dad Tim and Sally before she got in the car and drove off – only to stop for one last goodbye with her childhood sweetheart.
As she hugged him, she said: “I love you, I always will. Thank you for everything Craig Tinker.
“Thank you for all that we’ve been through and everything we’ve done together. I wouldn’t be the person that I am without you.”

But her emotional exit wasn’t granted the dramatic ending of the episode like most characters have had, and instead was simply driven off mid-way through the episode.
It didn’t take long before fans flooded to Twitter to share their outrage at her disappointing exit online.
One user wrote: “I thought that Faye’s departure would be more melodramatic” as another agreed: “Crumbs not even a black cab for Faye.”
A third echoed: “Is it me or did Faye forget to resign from her job before departing or is she intending on commuting.”
