Coronation Street heartthrob Nathan Graham has reportedly left the ITV cobbles after three years on the show playing the role of James Bailey.

The soap star – who plays the hunky footballer on the show – first joined the soap back in 2019 as part of the Bailey family.

But his beloved character took a turn for the worse in his recent storyline, after his character suffered a sudden heart attack which has knocked his sporting career.

According to new reports, his character's latest health battle isn't by coincidence as recent publications reveal the star is said to have quit the soap and is set to be "written out" of the show in the next few weeks.

A source has told The Sun: "James will have to choose between his love of his footballing career and his health.

"His exit will see him leave behind Weatherfield for a new start away from the street."

They continued: "James' family are still on the cobbles and he will only be a train ride away so it may not be the last viewers have seen of him."

Daily Star has since reached out to ITV for a comment.

It comes as Nathan's onscreen sister Dee-Dee – played by Channique Sterling Brown – is set to arrive on the show next week.

In upcoming scenes, Aggie and Ed Bailey – played by Lorna Laidlaw and Trevor Michael Georges – are overjoyed to see the return of their daughter in an impromptu visit from America.

And his loving sister waists no time in helping her brother out after he receives a letter regarding his payoff from Weatherfield County after they dropped him from the team.

The raven-haired beauty soon got to work contacting the football club and she's soon seen fighting for a better deal for her brother.

While the sporting hunk continues to recover from his life-changing operation, James gave little Lily her first football lesson which helped secure her place in her local football team.

His coaching success gave the star food for thought as he debated about the future of his football career – but will he leave Weatherfield behind for good?
