The Bailey family were gathered around the table at the start of Wednesday night's episode of Coronation Street to discuss their plans for Christmas.
As Ed came downstairs, he said goodbye to Aggie who was on the phone and son Michael was keen for an update.
He asked: "Was that Mum? How was Auntie Marcel?"
"Still not good," Ed sighed. "I don't think your mum's going to make it back for Christmas. So I was thinking we ought to keep things a bit low key this year."
Despite the sad update, Michael disagreed: "Maybe but this is the first year Glory knows what is going on. She's dead excited."
Sarge added they should make Christmas even bigger due to Aggie not being around to make it memorable for little Glory.
"Mum would want her to have a good Christmas wouldn't she so we can take lots of photos and video call her opening her presents," Michael shared.
Later, Ed, Ronnie and Sarge headed to The Bistro for a few drinks and Ronnie admitted it was nice to see his brother smiling as he pined for Aggie.
Unfortunately, his happiness didn't last very long when Tony arrived and demanded Ed pay up for his debts.
He's given Ed until Christmas Eve to hand over the money he is owed or pay the consequences.
Soap spoilers have revealed Ed will plan to flee Weatherfirled to see Aggie in Birmingham but he Tony forces his way into the Bailey house and threatens to expose him.
Ed will make a grab for the phone, but Tony will punch him, knocking him to the floor before his family return to find him nursing a bust lip and their presents gone.
Coronation Street are yet to confirm when Aggie will return to the cobbles but there is more trouble ahead for Ed.
On Christmas Day, Ed will watch on guiltily as the family unwrap the few meagre presents they managed to
salvage and he feels even worse when he unwraps the watch inscribed with ‘For the World’s Best Dad. Our Hero’.
Will Ed come clean about his gambling addiction and will Aggie return to support her husband?
