Coronation Street star so excited as they return after traumatic storyline

Coronation Street: Max tells Shona he wants to leave the street

After months away, fans of the ITV soap will see the daughter of extremist gang member Reece make her return to the cobbles.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media publications about her character’s return, actress Cait revealed she’s excited to be back.

She said: “Honestly, it feels like I never left, which is such a lovely feeling. It’s such an amazing place to work.

“I feel like I learned so much the first time about myself and I got to work with some amazing people.

“I got to be part of such a big storyline, so to get told I was coming back, it was unexpected.

“Lauren was supposed to be a temporary character that was just part of the storyline.

“When I got told she was coming back, I was so excited. I can now develop the character more and you can see her in a different light.

“Yeah it wasn’t expected at all, but I was so excited to find out the news.”

The troubled teen played a key part in Max Turner’s (Paddy Bever) downfall as she was used to groom Max into Griff Reynolds’ (Michael Condron) gang to spread racial hate.

However, the teens had a change of heart and called the police when they learned Griff was going to blow up the cobbles at the Peace Festival, which would result in multiple casualties.

Knowing her dad Reece would be facing prison time, Lauren told Max she was leaving for Devon in fear that Griff would come after her for ruining his plans.

Suggesting they go together, Max denied and decided to stay in Weatherfield and face the consequences of what he’d been involved with.

Although Coronation Street fans have seen Max move on with newcomer Bec (Luana Santos), he’ll have to battle his past feelings when Lauren returns.

Touching on how Lauren will feel seeing Max with a new love interest, Cait added: “ She wants Max to be happy but she does struggle to accept the reality of the situation.

“She might not be the reason for his happiness and that’s the hardest thing for Lauren to actually understand and accept.

“I do feel like the feelings towards Bec aren’t through hatred or spite, it’s just through heartbreak.

“She’s utterly heartbroken, Max was her last resort because she’s come back and her whole world has just fallen apart.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
